Frozen Clams
£6.60
About
These little molluscs can be found in both freshwater and marine environments and have a rich, slightly sweet, oceanic flavour.
Buying clams frozen is a great way to enjoy their distinctive, fresh-from-the-sea taste even when you’re miles inland.
They thaw almost instantly when cooked straight from frozen, making them one of the quickest ways to feel like you’re by the seaside.
How to Cook
Clams make a beautifully light starter when scrubbed clean and cooked simply in a pot with garlic, lemon and olive oil. And of course, let’s not forget they are a vital component of the Italian classic Spaghetti alla Vongole.
However, for a heartier meal, you could look stateside for inspiration and try your hand at a New England clam chowder. Add your clams to a creamy broth of bacon, diced potatoes and herbs for a comforting American staple.
What to Drink
Clams and a highly acidic Sauvignon Blanc or a dry rosé are a match made in heaven.
But if serving with a creamy sauce, a white burgundy makes a delightful accompaniment.
Notes
When raw, the shells of healthy clams will be closed. Discard any that are open before cooking.
Once you have cooked your clams, discard any that haven’t opened within the suggested cooking time. These will not be good to eat.

All our fresh and frozen fish and seafood arrives at your door vacuum packed. This helps to ensure that it stays fresh and is easy to store in your fridge or freezer.
