About

Sweet, succulent and utterly moreish, prawns are one of the most versatile options on the seafood menu.

More commonly referred to as shrimp outside the UK and Commonwealth countries, anyone who’s seen Forrest Gump will know that there a million ways to eat these cute crustaceans.

We sell our sustainably caught prawns in a variety of ways from raw and whole to coated in a light and crispy tempura so you can enjoy them in whatever style tickles your fancy.

How to Cook

Whole Raw King Prawns

Thaw your frozen whole king prawns by soaking them in cold brine for 20 minutes. Once defrosted, simply add whole to dishes such as paella or a seafood curry and cook until they have turned their characteristic shade of pink.

Whole Peeled Raw King Prawns

To create the classic Spanish tapas dish Gambas Pil Pil, first thaw your frozen peeled king prawns by soaking them in cold brine for 20 minutes. Then run a sharp knife along the back of each of your prawns and remove the intestinal tract, which is unpleasant to eat.

Then add your prawns, along with some chilli and more garlic than you can shake a stick at, to a pan of hot olive oil and cook until the prawns are pink all over. Transfer to a dish, sprinkle with a handful of fresh parsley and serve with a chunk of crusty bread that’s perfect for mopping up the leftover garlic oil.

Whole Peeled Cooked King Prawns

Once thawed, our peeled cooked prawns are the perfect candidates for creating that all-time classic, the legendary prawn cocktail.

Nestle your prawns on a bed of crunchy, shredded iceberg lettuce and add a few generous dollops of tangy cocktail sauce made from mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, a dash of Worcestershire sauce and a few drops of tobasco. Serve with a squeeze of lemon and liberally buttered brown bread.

What to Drink

Because prawns marry well with such a huge variety of flavours, there is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to wine pairings.

Crisp white wines and dry rosés are your best bet, but it’s always a good idea to consider how your prawns have been cooked before making your selection.

Citrussy white wines such as Sauvignon Blanc, Rueda and White Rioja are the number one choice for garlic-heavy prawn dishes. Whereas prawns served in a retro cocktail will love an off-dry Riesling or fruity rosé.
