Rock Lobster Tails
Price per 6oz Tail.
About
Also known as spiny lobsters, rock lobsters for the most part resemble true lobsters but the two aren’t especially close relations.
Rock lobsters can be easily distinguished from their distant cousins by their long, spiny antennae. They also don’t have any claws on their front legs, which is why we only sell rock lobster tails.
They are found in almost all warm seas including the Caribbean and Mediterranean Sea but are especially common in Australasia.
Rock lobster tails are packed full of deliciously sweet, juicy, firm meat which is rich in protein and easy to remove from the shell. This makes them a great option for anyone who loves the flavour of lobster meat but doesn’t enjoy getting their hands dirty.
How to Cook
Rock lobster tails are ideal candidates for steaming, grilling and boiling.
We love to grill rock lobster tails that have first been brushed with a mixture of lemon juice, olive oil, paprika and garlic powder.
What to Drink
Like true lobster, rock lobster pairs beautifully with Chardonnay, whether it’s a buttery and oaky, or fruity variety. Alternatively, an acidic, floral Riesling is a great choice for bringing out the sweet flavour of your rock lobster tails.
