Shrimp Peeled
Shrimp are opportunistic scavengers that will eat anything and everything that’s fallen down to the bottom of the sea or riverbed.
But who are we to judge when they taste this good.
Not to be confused with what American’s might call shrimp, which are referred to as scampi in the UK, these tiny crustaceans have an addictive quality and are well known for their versatility and sweet flavour.
How to Cook
Our peeled shrimp are ready to eat and make a tasty addition to many pasta dishes, salads and sandwiches.
Potted shrimp butter also makes a delicious dinner party starter which can be made the day before. Simply melt butter in a pan and add your shrimps along with a pinch of cayenne pepper, nutmeg and seasoning. Divide the mixture between ramakins and, once cooled, leave in the fridge overnight to set completely. Then, when you’re ready, serve with toasted crusty bread.
What to Drink
Shrimp are versatile and pair well with a variety of wines from all over the world including French Chardonnay and New Zealand Pinot Gris.
You could also experiment with a light, medium-bodied Californian Pinot Noir.
