Frozen Mussel Meat
About
Mussels feature in many European cuisines including French, Spanish, Portuguese, Dutch, Belgian and Italian.
Their shiny, blue-black shells are reminiscent of black pearls and house a small but delectable nugget of yellow-orange meat.
Mussels have a fresh, clean, naturally oceanic flavour and need virtually no additives to be deliciously addictive.
How to Cook
Mussels feature in many legendary seafood dishes such as paella and bouillabaisse.
However, if you prefer to enjoy your mussels in bulk, there’s nothing quite like a timeless moules marinère.
Tip your mussels into a large pot and cook in a liquor of cream, white wine, garlic and herbs.
Don’t forget to have a chunk of fresh, crusty bread on hand to mop up the delicious sauce at the end.
What to Drink
Crisp, coastal whites like French Muscadet or a Galician Albariño are the perfect drop to enjoy with your mussels.
Notes
When raw, the shells of healthy mussels will be closed. Discard any that are open before cooking.
Once you have cooked your mussels, discard any that haven’t opened within the suggested cooking time. These will not be good to eat.
