Frozen Peeled Scampi
About
Price per 1lb.
Scampi is the juicy tail of the langoustine, whose slightly sweet, white flesh is comparable to that of its larger relative the lobster.
These little scavengers have narrow, orange-pink bodies with impressive, spiny front claws. They are most commonly found in the north-eastern Atlantic Ocean and North Sea where they live burrowed away in muddy seabeds.
How to Cook
Our frozen peeled scampi is perfect for making the time-honoured pub grub classic scampi and chips at home.
Once thawed, dunk your scampi in a light batter made from plain flour, cornflour, beer and sparkling water. Then fry in a pan of hot oil until golden and crispy.
Serve with a tangy homemade tartare sauce for the perfect starter or snack.
What to Drink
It’s best to steer clear of oaky Chardonnays which can overpower scampi’s delicate, sweet flavour.
Instead, go for a crisp white wine such as a Pinot Grigio, Sauvignon Blanc or even a Prosecco.
Or why not wash down your scampi and chips with an ice-cold beer.
