Rollmops are pickled herring fillets that have been rolled into a cylindrical shape, often around a savoury filling such as a gherkin or green olive and skewered with a cocktail stick.
They are a much-loved snack in Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands and Germany, where they’re actually considered a good hangover cure.
How to Cook:
Our rollmops are ready to eat straight from the tub either on their own or on toast.
However, it’s not uncommon for fresh rollmops to be coated in oats and gently fried in butter and or bacon fat.
What to Drink:
Rollmops are often eaten for breakfast. However, if you’re eating them later on in the day you might want to try pairing them with a dry white wine such as a Californian Chardonnay or a dry German Riesling.
