Salmon Portion




Salmon is a large fish that can range anywhere from 20 inches to 5 feet in length depending on the species.

Its iconic, coral-pink flesh has a luxurious, fatty texture and is a fantastic source of omega-3 which is thought to support heart health and brain function.

Salmon is an oily fish with a rich, fishy flavour and attractive silver skin that crisps up beautifully when pan-fried.

How to Cook

Salmon is one of those fish that marries well with flavours from all over the world.

Asian flavours work particularly well. Try marinating your salmon portion in a mixture of soy sauce, ginger, chilli, garlic, and a little sesame oil then baking in an oven-proof dish.

Alternatively, you could add some sunshine to your plate by giving your salmon dish a Caribbean twist. Coat your salmon portion in a jerk paste or spice rub and leave to soak up the flavours for a few hours before cooking. Then stick under a medium to hot grill for 8-10 minutes. Serve with classic rice and peas and a vibrant mango or pineapple salsa.

What to Drink

Because of its oiliness, salmon can hold its own when matched with rich white wines with bold flavour such as oaked Chardonnay, Viognier, and White Burgundy. You could also match your wine to your salmon’s delicately pink flesh by choosing a dry rosé.
