Tiger Prawns in Brine

About

Tiger prawns are a large flavoursome variety with firm yet juicy flesh and a sweet flavour.

They can be easily distinguished from other prawn varieties by the distinctive grey, blue or black stripes along their backs, which turn red once cooked.

Our tiger prawns in brine are cooked, peeled and ready to add a touch of the exotic to everyday salads and sandwiches.

How to Cook

Once rinsed, our tiger prawns are the perfect candidates for creating that all-time classic, the legendary prawn cocktail.

Nestle your prawns on a bed of crunchy, shredded iceberg lettuce and add a few generous dollops of tangy cocktail sauce made from mayonnaise, tomato ketchup, a dash of Worcestershire sauce and a few drops of tobasco. Serve with a squeeze of lemon and liberally buttered brown bread.

What to Drink

Because prawns marry well with such a huge variety of flavours, there is no one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to wine pairings.

Crisp white wines and dry rosés are your best bet, but it’s always a good idea to consider how your prawns have been cooked before making your selection.

Citrussy white wines such as Sauvignon Blanc, Rueda and White Rioja are the number one choice for garlic-heavy prawn dishes. Whereas prawns served in a retro cocktail will love an off-dry Riesling or fruity rosé.
